Written Answers. - Value of Cheques Withheld from Suppliers.

200 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the total value of cheques withheld from suppliers by the eight health boards due to cash shortage, as cash shortage is a recurring matter; the measures, if any, that are under consideration to address this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that following discussions with my colleague, the Minister for Finance, agreement has been reached on a refinancing package which will address the current cash problems of health agencies.

The details of the package are being finalised between the two Departments and I will be in contact with the Health Board as soon as possible. I will notify the Deputy of details when they are available.
