Vol. 435 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Authority Structure.

Thomas P. Broughan

Ceist:

117 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment if, before he proceeds with legislation to establish the Fingal County Council, he will assess from Dáil Éireann and local authority representatives of the Howth-Baldoyle-Sutton ward and the Dublin City and Fingal County Managers whether there is a strong and clear wish among the electors of these areas to return to the administration of Dublin City Council from January 1994.

The Local Government (Dublin) Bill, 1993, was presented to Dáil Éireann on 19 October 1993. The Bill includes proposals for those boundary alterations which were recommended in the reorganisation report prepared under the Local Government Act, 1991, and submitted to me in July 1992. In accordance with that Act, the area committees were consulted by the area managers in the preparation of the report but, in their statutory submissions to me, neither Dublin Corporation, Dublin County Council nor the Fingal area committee put forward proposals for any further boundary alterations.
