Edward Nealon

Ceist:

88 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the total amount of EC funding allocated in the National Development Plan 1994-1999 to his Department for various projects.

Proposals for EC funding amounting to just over £407 million have been included in the NDP in respect of investment programmes and projects under the aegis of the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications.

Edward Nealon

Ceist:

89 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the total amount of EC funding allocated in the National Development Plan 1994-1999 to his Department for various projects.

No specific amount of EC funding was allocated to my Department in the National Development Plan, 1994-1999.

The aspects of the Plan which relate to my area of responsibility are included in Chapter 8 of the Plan which sets out proposals for the development of our human resources. My particular interest is concerned with the measures envisaged to assist severely disadvantaged groups, to promote gender-proofing and to facilitate the provisions of childcare facilities.

The framing of appropriate proposals, including the specification of the actual amounts to be expended in relation to such measures, is a matter for consideration by the relevant Ministers who are responsible for administering programmes under both the Community Support Framework and Community initiatives.

Edward Nealon

Ceist:

90 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the total amount of EC funding allocated in the National Development Plan 1994-1999 to his Department for various projects.

The amount of EC funding is of the order of £172 million but when account is taken of Exchequer and non-Exchequer matching funds the total amount available under the Plan is £240 million.
