Ceist:

64 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment the names and addresses of all bodies approved as housing associations for the purpose of providing units of accommodation to necessitous persons and who are eligible to be considered for grant aid for that purpose; and the maximum grant per unit of accommodation and the maximum number of projects.

The bodies approved since the inception of the scheme are listed in the following table.

Subject to a limit of £22,000 for one and two person units of accommodation and £25,000 for three or more person units, grants of up to 90 per cent (95 per cent in the case of projects for the homeless) of the approved costs of a project are now available. A limit does not apply to the number of projects for which a body may be considered for grant aid. However, the number of grants paid in any year is limited by the capital provision made for the scheme in that year's Public Capital Programme.
