Vol. 435 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions Written Answers. - Tourism Training.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

111 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if she will consider proposals to make Tralee Regional Technical College, County Kerry, a major centre for tourism education; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The South West is one of Ireland's prime tourist areas. Tralee Regional Technical College is contributing to the tourism training and education needs in this area by offering courses in tourism skills, hospitality crafts and professional cookery.

The recent development plan submitted by the college includes proposals for a tourism centre. The Department is at present considering this and other proposals in the context of the National Plan.
