I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that there has been a problem with the issue of tax receipts during this year. Delays occurred due to the fact that up to now the issue of tax receipts has been a manual operation which is very labour intensive.
However, the introduction of a new automated remittance processing system on 27 October 1993 means that from now on the bulk of tax receipts will issue automatically by return of post.
The Collector-General is taking steps to have the backlog of receipts issued over the coming weeks.
