58 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a request from Westmeath County Council to carry out necessary restoration works at Mullingar Swimming Pool; if funding will be made available in 1994 for this purpose; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Revised proposals for the refurbishment of Mullingar swimming pool were received from Westmeath County Council on 28 June 1993. The council were subsequently advised that, having regard to the limited capital resources available for the swimming pool programme and the number of other projects awaiting approval, it would be some considerable time before I would be in a position to give any commitment towards funding the refurbishment.
