Vol. 436 No. 1

Written Answers. - Reactor Animals Slaughter.

Thomas Foxe

Ceist:

155 Mr. T. Foxe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of carcases condemned, including partial condemnations in whole animal equivalents, under the fresh meat Acts from all reactor animals slaughtered, because of TB or Brucellosis, for each of the years from 1988 to 1992.

The total number of carcases condemned, including partial condemnations in whole animal equivalents, under the fresh meat Acts from both reactor and non-reactor animals because of the presence of TB is as follows:

No. of Carcasses

1988

120

1989

114

1990

141

1991

119

1992

100

My Department does not maintain separate records in a readily accessible form on condemnations of carcases from TB reactors as opposed to carcases from non-reactors.
Carcases are not condemned because of the presence of brucellosis.
