74 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will bring forward proposals to deal with the protection of jobs in specific sectors of the economy, outlined in the National Development Plan 1994-1999, where employment decline is predicted.
Yes, it is my intention in drawing up the operational programmes which will give effect to the National Development Plan to deal with the issue of protecting jobs in sectors where employment decline is predicted. Work on these operational programmes is already underway. Their detailed content has to be agreed with the EC Commission and once that is done their content will be announced. I am not in a position to do that at the moment but will be early in the new year.
