Vol. 436 No. 5

Written Answers. - Company Liquidator.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

86 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that company liquidators do not require any professional qualification; his views on whether liquidators should be adequately qualified; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the Companies Acts specify various grounds whereby certain persons cannot act as liquidator, specific qualifications for such appointments are not required.

The matter of requiring qualifications is kept under review, in the context of company law generally, in the light of various views expressed and actual experience in the application of the existing requirements of company law.
