138 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of the requests she has received from Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire, Parnell Square, Dublin 1, for assistance to refurbish and provide more adequate accommodation for this inner city school; and her response to those requests.
A consultant's report on the present condition and proposed refurbishment of Coláiste Mhuire, Parnell Square, has been examined in the planning and building unit of my Department. Having considered all the factors involved, particularly the nature and extent of the work, the estimated costings in excess of £2 million and the less than satisfactory final outcome in terms of facility enhancement, it has not been possible to authorise grant assistance towards the project. The school authorities have been informed accordingly.
