140 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education when the format for the 1994 junior certificate examination in materials technology (wood) will be decided; if the examination will incorporate the assessment of work carried out by students over the current academic year; if the assessment of the subject will be school based; if it will be assessed by outside examiners; and when sample papers for the subject will be available for distribution to schools.
141 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education when the format for the 1994 junior certificate examination in domestic science will be decided; if the examination will incorporate the assessment of work carried out by students over the current academic year; if the assessment of the subject will be school based; if it will be assessed by outside examiners; and when sample papers for the subject will be available for distribution to schools.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 140 and 141 together.
The formats and modes of examining for materials technology (wood) and home economics at junior certificate level are under consideration in my Department at present. I hope to be in a position to advise schools about these matters shortly.
