Ceist:181 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education the reason a maintenance grant is not being paid to a person (details supplied) currently studying in the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork.

City of Cork Vocational Education Committee, which is the relevant vocational education committee, is the body entrusted with the administration of the 1993 European Social Fund-aided maintenance grant scheme for trainees in this case. While no formal grant application was received from the person in question, I understand that in discussions with the vocational education committee she was advised that she would not be eligible for a grant on the grounds that she did not satisfy the residence requirements laid down in the scheme.
