31 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the support for child care services he considers appropriate; his views on the recommendations of the Commission on the Status of Women regarding the establishment of a child care policy unit and a child care development plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am awaiting the recommendations of the working party on child care services for working parents and will consider them in conjunction with recommendations of the Second Commission on the Status of Women before any proposals are put to Government in relation to the provision of such services. I expect that the report of the working party will be available in January 1994.
However the question of the establishment of a child care policy unit and a child care development plan is primarily a matter for the Minister for Health.
