I refer the Deputy to my reply to questions Nos. 280 and 281 of 27 April 1993 which contained, inter alia, details of arts and culture projects which benefited from national lottery funds during the period 1987-92. Lottery funds committed by the National Heritage Council in the same period are also detailed.
Chomh maith leis sin, tugadh eolas san fhreagra faoi na tograí ar mhaithe leis an nGaeilge a fuair cúnamh nó a bhfuil cúnamh ceadaithe dóibh tríd mo Roinnse ó fháltais an chrannchur náisiúnta.
With regard to 1993, an allocation of £5.302 million was made available to my Department from the national lottery surplus for use in funding the national cultural institutions, such as the National Museum, the National Library and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and other cultural bodies and projects.
In addition, An Chomhairle Ealaíon received an allocation of lottery funds amounting to £4.988 million and the National Gallery of Ireland received an allocation amounting to £116,000. Both of these allocations were paid directly through the Votes of the organisations concerned.
A further amount of £1.5 million lottery funds was made available through my Department to the National Heritage Council in 1993. Apart from £0.5 million of this amount expended under the discovery programme on archaeological and allied research, most of the remainder was allocated to projects for heritage and conservation purposes.
