542 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Health in view of the implementation of the Adoption Act, 1991, the period that couples in the North-Western Health Board area seeking foreign adoptions have to wait before an assessment is commenced; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been informed by the North-Western Health Board that a couple proposing to adopt a child abroad may expect to wait no more than three months before their assessment is commenced.
