Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

127 Mr. Gilmore asked the Taoiseach the total amount of money made available to his Department from the proceeds of the national lottery since 1 January 1993; and the uses to which this money has been put.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 123 and 127 together.

From 1987 to 1992, a total of £43,061,163 — from the proceeds of the national lottery — was spent by my Department. The expenditure was in respect of the arts, culture and heritage related functions that have since transferred to the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht. I refer the Deputy to the reply to Questions Nos. 154 and 155 of 16 December 1993 in which the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht addressed how such funds were committed.
My Department did not receive any moneys from the proceeds of the national lottery in 1993.
