Ceist:

72 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment his views on correspondence (details supplied) regarding the difficulties faced by licensed haulage contractors.

The Deputy will appreciate that the substantive issues raised in the correspondence, relate to matters which come within the responsibilities of my colleagues, the Minister for Social Welfare, the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications and the Minister for Finance.

As regards the reference to business names, under the provisions of the Registration of Business Names Act, 1963, it is obligatory to register a business name if any individual, partnership or body corporate carries on business under a name other than their own true names. It is also obligatory to notify the Registrar of Companies, who is responsible for the maintenance of the Register, of any changes to particulars filed. Penalties are provided for both failure to furnish information and furnishing false information.
