38 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Justice the reason no increased provision has been made in the 1994 Estimates for compensation for personal injuries criminally inflicted in view of the backlog in payments of such compensation.

I would like to have been in a position to secure a larger allocation for the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme in the 1994 Estimates but, as the Deputy will appreciate, there were many competing demands for the limited Exchequer resources available.
