Ceist:31 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment his views on measures to encourage home ownership; and the proposals, if any, he has in this regard.
Written Answers. - Home Ownership.
The promotion of home ownership is a central objective of Government policies in relation to housing. I am satisfied that there is in place a set of highly effective measures which have given us a home ownership rate of over 80 per cent, the highest rate in the EU. Accordingly, I have no proposals to introduce further measures in this area.
