Ceist:53 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the preparation of State of the environment reports by the Environmental Protection Agency; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Section 70 of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992, requires the agency to prepare and publish a report on the quality and condition of the environment in the State within five years of its establishment and at five yearly intervals thereafter, or within such other period as may be prescribed by the Minister for the Environment.
The agency is giving priority to the preparation of its first state of the environment report.
