125 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will make a statement on media reports (details supplied) that the Garda discovered ten live rabbits in cages in a car near Mullingar greyhound track, County Westmeath, on 29 January 1994; and the action, if any, that is being taken.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that a man was questioned by gardaí on 29 January, 1994 in relation to the finding of two cages of rabbits in a car in the vicinity of the greyhound track at Mullingar, but that they were satisfied that no offence was disclosed.
The Garda authorities also inform me that activity in the vicinity of all dog tracks, including the track at Mullingar, will be closely watched and any offences detected will be prosecuted.
