Vol. 438 No. 6

Written Answers. - Bull Island (Dublin) Causeway.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

41 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine the long term effect the causeway to Bull Island, Dollymount, Dublin 3, will have on marine activity on the northern side of the causeway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Construction of the causeway in question was facilitated by the issue of a foreshore licence to Dublin Corporation in 1966. Notice of intention to seek the licence was published in the national press in 1963 in accordance with the statutory requirements and only one identifiable objection was received and this was subsequently withdrawn.

The Department has no evidence of adverse long term effects on marine activity due to the existence of the causeway. I will be pleased to pursue the matter further if the Deputy supplies specific details of what he has in mind.
