Vol. 438 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

74 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the total number of applications currently on hand in his Department from various groups for grant-aid from the process of the national lottery for the purposes of providing facilities; if an application from Confey GAA Club, Leixlip, County Kildare has been received; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An amenities/recreational facilities grants scheme was operated by my Department in each of the years 1988, 1990 and 1991. The 1991 scheme was the last such scheme. Since then my Department has not invited applications for grants. Therefore, there are no such applications currently before my Department.

Provisions for payment of grants allocated under the 1991 and earlier schemes were made in my Department's Vote for 1992 and 1993. However, my Department gave notice through the local authorities that grants should be claimed before the end of 1993, as no provision would be made for payments in 1994. Therefore, there is no provision in my Department's Vote, nor any current scheme, under which an allocation could be made to the club mentioned or to any similar club or organisation.
