Vol. 438 No. 8

Written Answers. - Promotional and Commercial Agencies.

Michael McDowell

Ceist:

38 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the steps, if any, that have been taken to implement the policy of having an Ireland House established in major cities throughout the world where the various Irish promotional and commercial agencies could operate from under the one roof.

The consolidation of Ireland's representation in New York has been successfully completed and all the State agencies, plus the Consulate General, now operate out of Ireland House at 345 Park Avenue. The formal opening of the new premises will take place later this year. State agencies already share accommodation in London, Paris, Dusseldorf, Milan and Hong Kong. In addition, some of the State agencies share embassy premises at the following locations: Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Moscow, Riyadh, Madrid and Helsinki. The further rationalisation of Ireland's promotional and commercial representation abroad will be kept under constant review so as to ensure that the best possible use is made of our resources.
