Vol. 438 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

92 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The application of the person named for payment under the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme was rejected at a computer validation check because some tag numbers were invalid. When this problem is resolved his application will be processed further and any 60 per cent advance payment due as provided in EU regulations will then be paid.

His application for grants under the June 1993 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and any 60 per cent advance due as provided in EU regulations will be paid shortly.

95 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a suckler grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named has already been paid an advance of 60 per cent under the 1993 suckler cow premium as provided in EU regulations.

Payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium cannot be made until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Ceist:

98 Mrs. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a suckler grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named applied for suckler cow premium on five animals in 1993 but as he was not an applicant in 1992 he does not have automatic quota rights and consequently cannot be paid premium on these animals. If, however, he applies to the national reserve for suckler cow quota rights and is successful his application will be processed for payment.

John O'Donoghue

Ceist:

100 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will receive his special beef premium.

The person named has been deemed ineligible for payment under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme as he failed to submit the cattle identity cards of the animals on which he applied for stamping and punching prior to sale, as required under the terms and conditions of the scheme. However, if the person named can prove that the cattle involved were taken out of the system, e.g. by being slaughtered before premium was claimed on them by any other farmer, his application will be reconsidered.

He did not apply for grants under the special beef premium scheme in the June 1993 application period.

The person named applied for ewe premium under the 1993 scheme in respect of 400 ewes. He was paid the advance of the first and second instalments in July 1993 based on a quota of 140 which he had leased in. He subsequently bought in an additional quota of 274 and he will be paid the advance of the 1st and 2nd instalments on the balance of 260 ewes applied on shortly.
