Vol. 439 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Ceist:

44 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will make a statement giving the reason a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim was only paid headage in respect of 46 ewes, in view of the fact that this person had 52 ewes.

The person named applied for 1993 sheep headage scheme grants on 44 mountain ewes and two hogget ewes only and received payment in full on 11 November 1993.

Under the 1993 ewe premium scheme he had a quota of 41 based on the number of eligible ewes he had under the 1991 scheme and he was paid the advance of the first and second instalments, based on his quota, on 25 July 1993. The final instalment of the 1993 ewe premium will be paid after the rate has been fixed by the EU in March-April.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

45 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of his suckler cow and cattle headage grants.

My Department has no record of having received an application under the 1993 cattle headage scheme from the person named. An application received under the 1993 suckler cow scheme is being processed and any advance payment due will be made shortly. Payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

46 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry was refused an additional sheep quota from the national reserve; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for an allocation of ewe premium quota from the national reserve under a category that required that the number of ewes applied for in 1991 was for a lower number than normal because of exceptional circumstances. In fact, however, the person named was paid for a higher number of ewes in 1991 than the average of the previous three years and he does not, therefore, qualify for an allocation of quota from the reserve.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

47 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of the 1993 special beef premium; and the amount due to him.

The person named is registered under herd No. D343026.

He applied for grants on 14 animals under the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme. His application is being processed at present and any advance payment due will be made shortly.

My Department has no record of a June 1993 special beef premium application from the person named.
