Vol. 439 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

109 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a decision will be made regarding an application for beef premium grant for a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named applied for special beef premium on 17 animals in January-February 1993. His application is being processed at present and any advance due in accordance with European Union regulations will be paid in the near future. He also applied for special beef premium on five animals in June 1993. An advance payment of 60 per cent in accordance with European Union regulations was made on foot of this application on 15 December 1993.

Payment of the balance of the special beef premium cannot be made until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with European Union regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

110 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid his 1993 ewe premium and cattle and sheep headage grants.

The person named was not paid the advance of the first and second instalments of the 1993 ewe premium as he had no quota. He was recently allocated a quota of 17 rights from the national reserve. He will receive payment of his full 1993 ewe premium entitlement when payments commence in March-April.

Under the 1993 sheep headage scheme he applied for grants on 26 mountain breeding ewes only but as he did not declare that he had any mountain grazings he was not eligible for any sheep headage grants.

Payment of an advance under the 1993 cattle headage scheme was made on 17 November 1993 and any balance due will be paid shortly.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

111 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have arrangements made to pay the 1993 EU 22 month special beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Cork for all the animals for which he has applied.

The person named applied for special beef premium on 11 animals aged 22 months on 28 June 1993. It was a condition of the scheme that the animals be retained by the applicant for two months from the date of lodging his application. At an inspection carried out by my Department on 27 August 1993, however, it was found that the applicant had sold all the animals on 20 July 1993. As he was in breach of the two month retention period, he is not eligible for payment.

Brendan Kenneally

Ceist:

112 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Waterford will be paid a sheep subsidy; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the sheep headage scheme payment is made on mountain breeding ewes substantially maintained on mountain grazings and on hogget ewes on all grazings in the disadvantaged areas. As the person named had 30 breeding ewes only but no mountain grazings he is not entitled to grants under the scheme.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

113 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when livestock grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named has already been paid 60 per cent advances under the 1993 cattle headage and suckler cow premium schemes. His applications are being processed further at present and any balance due under the cattle headage scheme will be paid shortly.

Payment of the 1993 sheep headage was made to the person named on 17 November 1993. He was not paid 1993 ewe premium as he has no quota.

He applied for special beef premium in June 1993. His application is being processed and any advance payment due will issue shortly.

Payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium and special beef premium cannot be made to a particular applicant until all applications received from him-her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

114 Mr.

Payment of the 1993 sheep headage was made to the person named on 13 November 1993. He applied under the 1993 ewe premium scheme for payment on 65 sheep. He has a quota of 34 and payment of the advance of the first and second instalments was made on 25 July 1993 on this number.

He applied for special beef premium in June 1993 in respect of three eligible animals for the ten month scheme and two animals for the 22 month scheme. His applications are being processed and any advance payment due will issue shortly.

Payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium and special beef premium cannot be made to a particular applicant until all applications received from him-her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

115 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a suckler grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when the balance will be paid.

The processing of the application received from the person named for grants under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme was delayed because he applied for premium on more cows than were eligible. The application is now being processed, however, and any advance due will be paid shortly.

Payment of the balance of the suckler cow premium cannot be made to a particular applicant until all applications received from him-her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
