My Department approved the positions referred to by the Deputy as part of an initiative to strengthen the management of key hospitals.
The management structure approved for University College Hospital-Merlin Park Regional Hospital, Galway provides for a General Manager, Deputy General Manager and four Functional Managers (Services Manager, Finance Manager, Personnel Manager, Information Services Manager).
These new management structures are being put in place on a pilot basis in key hospitals and in time will be evaluated to determine their success.
