Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

134 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is eligible for an additional suckler cow grant payment.

The person named applied for grants on 19 animals under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme for non-suppliers of milk. He was paid a 60 per cent advance on 17 December 1993 in respect of 14 animals for which he had a quota. However, my Department subsequently learned that nine of these 14 belonged to ineligible dairy breeds and as a result, I regret to say, he has been overpaid £268.91 which he will be requested to refund.

Ceist:

135 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid the 1993 and 1994 cattle headage grant.

The person named was paid an advance of his 1993 beef cow grant on 23 December 1993. His application is being processed further at present and any balance due will be paid in the near future. The application period for the 1994 cattle headage scheme will be next June. He cannot be paid any 1993 suckler cow premium as he has no quota at present. If he succeeds in obtaining a quota from the national reserve, his suckler cow application will then be considered.

Ceist:

136 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a farm building grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I expect that payment will be made within the next six or eight weeks.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

137 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a suckler cow premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk producers is being processed at present and any advance payment due in accordance with EU regulations will be made shortly.
