Ceist:99 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education the mechanism, if any, available to parents of children attending national school to seek redress when they believe their child is being unfairly treated in school.
Vol. 439 No. 7
99 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education the mechanism, if any, available to parents of children attending national school to seek redress when they believe their child is being unfairly treated in school.
My Department has a complaints procedure which is available to parents or guardians of children attending national school who believe that their child is being unfairly treated in school.
It is appropriate that complaints are referred in the first instance to the board of management which is the body charged with the governance of the school. A complaint which is not resolved at that level can be referred to my Department for investigation in accordance with an agreed complaints procedure.
I am arranging to have details of the complaints procedure forwarded to the Deputy for his information.
