The Deputy will note that, excluding persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing, there has been a continuous increase in the total numbers at work in each of the years April 1989 to April 1993.
I have been informed that data on private sector investment in enterprise in Ireland is not available from the Central Statistics Office.
The measures in the last two budgets combined with those in theNational Development Plan, 1994-1999 and the Programme for Competitiveness and Work are designed to encourage increased investment in Ireland by the private sector leading to increased employment.
