My statutory powers in relation to salmon farming derive from the Fisheries Acts 1959 and 1980 and the Foreshore Act, 1933. Applications for the licensing of salmon farming proposals which fall within the scope of the EC (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations, 1989 must be supported by an environmental impact assessment.
