Ceist:81 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of Ireland's notification of experimental release of genetic engineering, as reported to and received by the European Commission on 23 October 1993.

Wexford): My Department, which is the provisional national competent authority for the purposes of Directive 90/220/EEC, has received no notification in that capacity of any proposed deliberate release of GMOs in Ireland. My Department submitted the first of the required triennial reports on implementation of the Directive to the European Commission in February 1993.
