Vol. 440 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

207 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in the payment of the balance of headage and beef premium in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named is not the registered owner of the herd number quoted. However, the person named was paid the balance of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 26 February 1994. He was paid 60 per cent advances of his January-February 1993 special beef premium on 8 February 1994 and June 1993 special beef premium on 16 March 1994 but the balance due cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993, including his area aid application have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Ceist:

208 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the balance of headage and beef premia will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named has been paid the full amount due to him under the 1993 cattle headage scheme. He was also paid a 60 per cent advance of his January-February 1993 special beef premium on 8 February 1994. The balance due under the special beef premium scheme cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
