276 Mr. Collins asked the Minister for Education the total number of schools awaiting appointments of remedial teachers; the total numbers involved; if she will publish the current list of schools, and, if not, the reason therefor.
There are 3,209 ordinary primary schools in the country. Of these, 1,698 schools currently have the services of a remedial teacher. This leaves 1,511 schools, with a combined enrolment of approximately 118,000 pupils, awaiting the services of a remedial teacher.
