Ceist:

290 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education whether she attended St. Patrick's Day or other celebration overseas recently; the location which she visited; the number, rank and status of each of her entourage; the mode of transport used; the number of flights involved; the standard and location of accommodation used; the total cost to the taxpayer of the trip; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Minister visited Toronto for St. Patrick's Day celebrations. She was accompanied by her husband and private secretary. Mode of transport was direct Aer Lingus to Toronto. Hotel used was King Edward Hotel, 37 King Street East, Toronto, a central location. She was transported to various functions by limousine. The total cost of the trip is not yet available, but the cost of the return flights was £7,245 i.e. £2,415 × 3.
