28 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the proportion of the telephone system in Ireland using the most modern digital technology; the timescale of the programme to bring the complete system up to the most up-to-date technological standards.

The situation is that over 70 per cent of the telecommunications network has been digitalised and it is intended to complete this process by the end of the decade.
