Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - University Examinations.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

209 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education, in regard to university examinations, if she has satisfied herself that procedures to ensure that the identity of students is not known to those marking papers are adequate; if her attention has been drawn to the concerns among students in some institutions that their identities can be known; the measures, if any, she is considering to ensure anonymity; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Universities are autonomous institutions. Day to day matters such as the conduct of examinations are matters for the authorities of the institution concerned and it would not be appropriate for me to seek to intervene in them.
