Ceist:63 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has for the provision of adequate psychological services for schools in the Fingal area of County Dublin; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Schools Psychological Service.
There is a commitment in the Programme for a Partnership Government to extend psychological services to all primary schools. In line with this commitment I have made provision in the 1994 Estimates for my Department for the recruitment of a further 10 psychologists to be assigned to the primary education area.
The deployment of the extra psychologists is being examined at present and I will announce the details in this regard in due course. The needs of all areas including Fingal, will be taken into account in arriving at final decisions.
