Vol. 441 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

77 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive payment of an agricultural grant.

The person named was paid an advance of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 3 December 1993. His application is being processed further at present and if found in order any balance due will be paid shortly.

He applied for the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme on 20 cows. At a herd test on 10 September 1993 only 14 cows were presented. Under European Union Regulations governing the scheme all animals applied on must be held for six months from date of application. My Department is writing to the herdowner asking him to explain the absence of the animals and, when his reply is received, his application will be considered further.

John Ellis

Ceist:

78 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason his Department is refusing to pay EC special beef premium scheme of February 1993 to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim in view of the fact that he was notified by letter on 25 November 1993 that if he forwarded the official mart or factory receipts of the livestock he would be paid.

The person named applied for the January-February 1993 special beef premium in respect of eight animals. On 25 November 1993 my Department wrote to him asking him to supply factory or mart dockets for the bullocks showing the ear tag numbers and the date of slaughter so that his application could be considered. As the animals were sold at a mart and not slaughtered at a meat factory and the cards were not punched before sale of the animals in accordance with clause 5 of the terms and conditions of the scheme he cannot be paid any premium.
