Ceist:77 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for the Environment the reason it takes up to six months for the processing of applications for a first time buyers grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - New House Grant.
The time taken from receipt of an application for a new house grant to its payment is influenced by a range of factors mostly within the responsibility of the applicant e.g. the stage at which the application is made, the supply of documentation required, completion and occupation of the house, etc. The time taken to process an application can, accordingly, vary appreciably from one application to another. If the Deputy has in mind any specific case of delay on my Department's part in, for example, arranging an inspection of a house, I will have it looked into on receipt of details.
