Ceist:68 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of EEC, EC and EU directives which have come to his Department since Ireland joined the European Community.
Written Answers. - European Directives.
All directives applying to Ireland are communicated formally to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and are subsequently forwarded to the Government Department concerned for appropriate implementation. No directives requiring transposition under EC law have arisen in the area of direct responsibility of my Department.
A total of 1,902 directives have been applied since the European Communities were established, of which 1,148 were applicable in Ireland on 31 December 1993.
