Vol. 442 No. 3

Written Answers. - Land Registry Application.

John O'Leary

Ceist:

92 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Justice if she will have arrangements made for the Land Registry to expedite applications for first registration in view of the fact that the owner of the property wants to dispose of these urgently to a vendor who requires absolute title; and if she will make a statement on the matter giving details of when it is likely that these applications for first registration will be completed.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the two applications which are the subject of the Deputy's question are for first registration, based on adverse possession, of two adjoining plots. The first application was lodged in the Land Registry on 13 February 1989 and there has been ongoing correspondence, up to and including 4 March 1994, with the applicant's solicitors. The second application was lodged on 26 January 1994 and queries in relation to it were issued to the solicitors on 28 April 1994.

It is not possible to say when these applications will be completed as this depends on the outcome of the queries issued to the applicant's solicitors.
