Vol. 442 No. 5

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Centres.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

181 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 to be admitted to a drugs treatment course.

The provision of treatment at drug treatment centres for individual patients is a matter for the medical staff at such centres in the first instance and it would not be appropriate for the Minister for Health to intervene in such arrangements. However, given the particular circumstances of this case, I am arranging for the person concerned to be referred to the Drug Treatment Centre, Pearse Street, for assessment following which a decision will be made about the treatment which is most appropriate.
