44 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has to amend regulations regarding the use or towing of a four wheeled trailer; if there is any EC directive in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have no proposals to amend the regulations relating to the use or towing of trailers, including four-wheeled trailers, and there is no specific EU directive on the subject.
I understand, however, that a type of approval directive relating to mechanical coupling devices for motor vehicles and their trailers is currently being finalised. Type approval matters are dealt with by the Department of Enterprise and Employment.
