62 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health if he has implemented or plans to implement the EU recognition of certain complementary therapies such as reflexology and other alternative practices/medicines; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The European Community Directives on mutual recognition of qualifications, being dealt with at present by my Department, in conjunction with the Department of Education, do not apply to the "complementary therapies" sector. The general position in regard to complementary medicine in Ireland is that it is not regulated and there are no proposals at present to regulate it.
