Vol. 443 No. 5

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 30 from Deputy De Rossa.

In accordance with Standing Order 30 I wish to request leave to move the adjournment of the Dáil to discuss the current crisis facing TEAM Aer Lingus and the need for an injection of Government equity to avert the threat to 2,000 jobs. The company is in a critical position and time is running out for the 2,000 people employed there.

The Deputy may not elaborate on the matter.

I am simply explaining the reason for the urgency in this matter.

This is out of order. The Deputy will confine himself to the notice he gave me.

The number of jobs involved is three times the number in Digital.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order. Accordingly, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

That is a disgrace.
