98 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health the number of children placed under section 5 of the Child Care Act, 1991, in bed and breakfast accommodation, in hospital beds and in overnight accommodation in Garda stations in each of the years 1992 and 1993.
Section 5 of the Child Care Act, 1991 which places a statutory duty on health boards to make suitable accommodation available to homeless persons up to the age of 18 years came into effect on 1 October 1992. Figures for the placement of young homeless persons under this section have been collated from the beginning of 1993. The following table gives the detailed information requested by the Deputy.
