Ceist:36 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the estimated cost of the forthcoming European election; if any of this cost is recoupable from the EU; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Cost of European Elections.
The forthcoming European election will be held on the same date as two by-elections, an Udarás na Gaeltachta election and certain local elections in urban districts; this makes it difficult to isolate the estimated cost of the European election. The estimated total cost to the central fund of holding the aforementioned elections is in the range of £6 million to £8 million. This cost is not recoupable from the EU.
